Description:

While research on trauma dates back to the early 20th century, trauma-informed approaches gained significant traction in the 1990s with the rise of PTSD research, a deeper understanding of the brain’s response to trauma, and an emphasis on safety, trust, and empowerment in healing.

This program will enhance your understanding of intergenerational trauma by combining personal narratives with the latest scientific insights. It covers three key areas: background, mechanisms of transmission, and healing. The background section shares the presenter's personal connection to intergenerational trauma, the historical evolution of its study, and the findings of animal studies that help explain trauma's generational impact. Mechanisms of transmission explore the role of epigenetics and learned behaviors passed down within families.

The healing section highlights modalities commonly used in trauma recovery, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and the core language approach, offering practical tools for addressing intergenerational trauma in therapeutic settings. This comprehensive program will equip you with the knowledge and strategies to better support clients in their healing journeys.
