Caribbean Conversations: Climate Change and Mental Health

EVENT OVERVIEW

Hosted by the Climate-Informed Counsellors Chapters of the CCPA; Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Johnson, both Caribbean nationals, will discuss the conversations they've been part of regarding climate change and mental health - ranging form local presentations to international stages such as COP.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Dr. Johnson is a medical doctor, an experienced speaker, a One Young World Ambassador, and is founder and president of the Caribbean-based, youth-led, mental health focused movement Let's Unpack It. This advocacy group aims to broaden awareness about mental health, empower Caribbean youth to end stigma towards mental health, and advocate for the design and implementation of comprehensive national and regional mental health policy.

Dr. William M. Hamilton is a general practice physician currently working in the Department of Public Health, in The Bahamas. He aspires to practice Emergency Medicine with special interest in disaster and flight medicine while also running a community-based organization that focuses on rapid response care in disaster situations. He has stood as The Bahamas Government's Medical Focal Point for Climate Change and Health and is currently a core member of the Climate Change and Health Team that recently travelled to COP29.
