Join the Quebec Counselling Association for a two-hour workshop on Brain Injury and Depression. This online workshop will be delivered on June 14/2025, on Zoom

 WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

-Understand the effect of mechanical injury on brain structure and function
-Describe the common symptoms and challenges experienced by brain-injured individuals
-Understand the challenges post-concussive depression,  pain, sleep disorders, and mood alterations
-Identify appropriate resources for holistic care and return to daily function
-Understand the differences in special populations--professional and amateur athletes and veterans.
This online workshop consists of slides, lectures, and small group discussion.

Research Focus

My research focuses on understanding cortico-cortical communication and information processing. We investigate multiple topics in fundamental science with a particular emphasis on development of new tools with an eye on clinical applications. Our overall goal is to better understand how information is represented in early stages of processing, how this information is communicated through multiple brain areas and transformed in the process, and how this processing is disrupted in neurological disorders such as traumatic brain injury. We use non-invasive brain imaging using MRI to advance our research, and continuously develop methods to improve MRI of the brain. These advancements are then also applied to studies of clinical value, in particular improving detection and diagnosis of concussions.
