Overview:

This 50-minute presentation will share the journey of technology in counselling since the 1950s and explore where it may be headed in the future. The presentation will cover a chronological presentation of the development of technology in counselling and for each major development the benefits and challenges will be discussed. The presentation will explore technological applications such as video, email, text, and Artificial Intelligence.

 

 

Biography:

Irish Dhindsa (She/Her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor specialising in supporting those experiencing a loss of self (identity) due to grief (i.e.death loss, health loss, relationship loss) and trauma (i.e. loss of safety, loss of connection). Irish is also a Certified Peer Supporter, and an author. Irish is involved in the community as a volunteer, where she holds various board positions, supporting non-for-profit organizations. Irish emphasises the importance of unique self expression and believes that creativity plays a crucial role in developing one’s overall well-being. Irish is motivated by connections, creativity, and curiosity in her work and cherishes opportunities that hold potential for these experiences.
