Event Overview:

This panel discussion brings together experienced professionals to explore the practical, ethical, and legal considerations shaping the counselling practice in today’s increasingly mobile and interconnected landscape. The discussion will address members’ most frequently asked questions about interprovincial and cross-border practice, including how regulatory differences affect scope of practice, client care, and professional responsibility. Panelists will also examine best practices in counselling and clinical supervision, with a focus on protecting client welfare while supporting ethical, competent, and sustainable practice.

Central to the discussion is the critical role of regulation, professional liability insurance, and adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Panelists will highlight why understanding these foundational documents is essential—not only for compliance, but for sound professional judgment, risk management, and public protection. By grounding everyday practice in ethical and legal accountability, this session will equip counsellors with the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate complex practice environments responsibly and with integrity.
