The CCPA Animal Assisted Therapy In Counselling Chapter will present new guidelines for integrating animals into professional practice, with a specific focus on counselling.

These guidelines will incorporate the newly introduced voluntary National Standards for Animal Assisted Human Services.

This free, online half-day workshop will cover the safest and most ethical practices for partnering with animals in professional practice as a therapeutic intervention, a rapidly growing field.

During the session, AAT-C representatives will outline key aspects of the updated guidelines, address any questions, and provide details on certifications and training opportunities in Animal Assisted Human Services.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Eileen Bona M.Ed. is a Registered Clinical Psychologist and the owner and founder of Dreamcatcher Nature Assisted Therapy, a psychology private practice located in Ardrossan, Alberta. Eileen practices Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) and a plethora of other research-based approaches to successfully treat people who present with neurodiversity and complexity.

Eileen created and taught the first College course in English in Canada in AAT and developed the first National English College certification in Animal Assisted Wellness. She presided on the Task Force for National Standards for Animal Assisted Human Services (AAHS) and has written the first Canadian textbook for practitioners wishing to specialize in AAHS.

Eileen is the President of the National Chapter for AAT in Counselling through the CCPA. Through her dedication to motivate and reach her complex populations, Eileen created Dreamcatcher and strives to educate clinical practitioners in best practices for including animals into therapy in safe and ethical ways. 

This session will be recorded, and is eligible for 3 CEC's.
