This online workshop is intended to provide practitioners with a strong foundation to supporting perinatal mental health populations.

Material will include:

  • Understanding the challenges when identifying a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder
  • Understanding the differences between the different PMADs- anxiety, depression, panic, OCD, PTSD, psychosis, bi-polar disorder
  • Assess prenatal and post partum risk factors
  • Understanding assessment for PMADs
  • Creating treatment plans, referral pathways, and support clients in developing a self-help treatment plan 
  • Discuss cultural and spiritual differences in PMADS and providing culturally competent care.

About the Presenter

Avril Ferguson, Registered Psychotherapist, CC-BRT, CC-PGL, PMH-C, is the owner and founder of Norfolk County Counselling & Psychotherapy. Avril is a Registered Psychotherapist, has a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

Avril’s specialized treatment areas are perinatal mental health, perinatal grief and loss, and birth and reproductive trauma.
