This in-person workshop is designed to equip participants with a fundamental understanding of the various ways trauma can be linked to immigration.

What To Expect

  • It will provide you practical skills for addressing this trauma in professional or community settings.
  • Although all aspects of the immigration experience can impact mental health negatively, the workshop will offer insights into the traumatic experiences of specific groups—LGBTQ refugees, survivors of gender violence, political and torture survivors, victims of human trafficking, and individuals escaping religious persecution—emphasizing the unique emotional and mental impacts on these sub-populations.
  • The workshop will offer case scenarios, live therapy demonstrations, and clinical insights.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify various types of trauma associated with immigration.
  • Understand the unique stressors and psychological impacts on different sub-populations.
  • Apply practical techniques to support immigrants and refugees experiencing trauma.
