Description:

Working with clients facing climate distress but unsure how to help? The climate-crisis is an ever changing problem and it is important to approach our work as therapists with a comprehensive understanding. This monthly book club provides an opportunity to read three accessible books to give you a comprehensive understanding of ecological distress from multiple counselling theories. Group discussion will focus on synthesizing information and assist with your practice.

Please be prepared to discuss how the readings relate to your counselling practice and your own life amidst the climate-crisis so please keep these in mind while doing the reading.

Books include:

  • Ray, Sarah. (2020). A field guide to climate anxiety: How to keep your cool on a warming planet. University of California Press Books
  • Davenport, S. (2017). Emotional Resiliency in the Era of Climate Change: A Clinician’s Guide. Jessica Kingsley Publishers.
  • Grose, Anouchka. (2020). A Guide to Eco-Anxiety: How to Protect the Planet and Your Mental Health, Watkins Media Limited, UK

Facilitated by Trevor Lehmann. For questions, please contact tlehmann.academic@gmail.com
