Description:
Workplace harassment has been identified as behaviours that are offensive, belittling, or threatening, and directed at a specific individual or a group of individuals . Workplace harassment can take the form of bullying and be verbal, physical, sexual, or racial in nature . It is also a form of discrimination when it targets one or more prohibited grounds (e.g., age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, person with a disability, etc.). Harassment is a pervasive phenomenon, and it can be challenging when it occurs in a work setting, oftentimes because it occurs behind closed doors or includes a dynamic with an important power differential. Employees are often left without an avenue for recourse or in situations where mechanisms are already well-established, the process can be extremely lengthy with an unnecessary administrative burden to the point where employees’ mental health and wellbeing take a dramatic toll for the worse. In this webinar, we will explore what harassment entails and some best practices to provide to your clients when they are faced with this type of situation, including exploring mechanisms for recourse.
Biography:
Vicki-Anne Rodrigue is a Canadian Certified Counsellor, having an expertise in mental and organizational health, focusing primarily on crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders. She has experience in the development of work descriptions and the provision of expertise in organizational design, strategic HR planning, and recruitment strategies. Vicki-Anne has extensive work experience in the fields of values and ethics, conflict resolution, harassment prevention and resolution and administrative investigations. As a former conflict resolution practitioner and a senior harassment complaints advisor for the federal public sector, Vicki-Anne is highly knowledgeable of the impacts that harassment and workplace violence have on employees and the organization as a whole. She has been privileged to counsel employees and advise managers on how to deal with difficult workplace situations, including explaining the harassment complaint process and other mechanisms for resolution. Aside from her expertise in industrial and organizational psychology, Vicki-Anne is also trained in administering, scoring, and interpreting standardized psychological, neuropsychological, and vocational assessments in both occupational and clinical settings. Vicki-Anne is highly skilled in providing services within a multidisciplinary environment, competent in program management and familiar with a wide array of policies, procedures, guidelines, and directives, including several organizational legislations and regulations. Vicki-Anne has a proven track record in successful relationship building, development and delivery of training programs, client services and exceeding program and performance objectives.
