Counselors can assist their female clients in gaining an understanding of how the dysfunctional relationships with their mothers impact their adult lives.

This includes the types of abuse these clients experienced/experience: physical, verbal, emotional, psychological, and even sexual. Gaining the insights, as painful as it is, can help these female clients decide what types of relationships they want to have with their mothers.

There are times when the healthiest relationship is no relationship, meaning admitting that their mothers will never be what these clients needed/need.

About the Presenter

Shirley Soleil-Day, BA, MDiv, MEd is a Counsellor and Advocate who lives in Aylesford, NS with her husband, Eddy.

She has worked in the private sector for more than 43 years.

Besides her work as a counselor, Shirley is an author, historian and researcher. She founded and was Executive Director of the Invisible Disabilities Association of Canada (IDACan) f or 15 years.

Shirley has written many articles on disabilities, poverty and mental illness, and advocacy, and is researching material for her book on psychopathy.

This online session will be recorded and is eligible for one CEC.
