Description - 

This presentation will review the Safety and Repair approach to addressing gender based violence. The focus of the approach is to help people repair harm with people they hurt and with people who hurt them. The session will review the three phases: 1) Establishing safety, 2) Preparing people to repair harm in relationships, and 3) practicing repairing harm with the people they hurt and/ or who have hurt them.

Presenter Bio - 

Tod is recognized internationally for his work with gender-based violence, narrative therapy, trauma and restorative justice. He has presented in every province and territory in Canada as well as internationally in Europe, Asia and the United States. Along with many articles, he has published two books Narrative Therapy: Making Meaning, Making Lives (Sage Publications, 2007) and Innovations in Interventions with Intimate Partner Violence (Routledge, 2017). His work on gender based violence was highlighted in the critically acclaimed documentary A Better Man (NFB, 2017).
