Differences in educational practices, student responsibilities, and accommodation processes between K-12 and post-secondary systems create barriers for neurodivergent students transitioning to higher education.
 

This online two-part series presents findings from the first national study on neurodivergent students in Canadian post-secondary education and offers evidence-based recommendations for clinicians working with neurodivergent youth and adults who plan to attend or are currently in post-secondary education.

The first part will be held on March 6, followed by the second on March 13, 2025.

Both sessions will be from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. (ET)

These sessions will provide new insights into the experiences of neurodivergent learners and offers actionable recommendations to equip clinicians with knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Differences in practices, requirements, and policies between K-12 and post-secondary education
  • Barriers faced by neurodivergent students transitioning to higher education
  • Guidance on disclosure and accommodations in post-secondary settings
  • Collaborating with institutions on accommodations
  • Evidence-based recommendations for supporting neurodivergent students' success


About The Presenter

Dr Jennifer Fane holds an interdisciplinary PhD in education, public health, and social policy and has 18 years of experience working as a teacher, teacher educator, and researcher in Canada and Australia. Prior to the joining the Conference Board, Jennifer held a senior leadership role at a nonprofit organization serving neurodivergent individuals; overseeing human resources, educational programming, research and advocacy.
