Description:

This three-hour workshop provides an overview of clinical supervision and essential aspects involved in providing supervision. Target participants are those who are interested in providing or receiving supervision but may lack experience as supervisors or supervisees. Clinical supervision is defined and compared to other related roles while engaging in reflective activities around one’s own experience of supervision. The importance of receiving supervision from practicum/internship to across the career span is explored and key elements of supervision including documentation, models of supervision, and select ethical issues specific to the supervisory relationship are presented.

 

Biography:

Blythe Shepard, Ph.D., CCS is of British and Kanien'kehá:ka ancestry, a professor at the University of Lethbridge, and co-editor of the Clinical Supervision of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Profession.

 

 

Lori Rudniski is the director of a long-term counselling centre, instructor at the University of Manitoba and a CCS. She provides supervision for practicing counsellors and for university practicum students.
