Description:

The intermediate level workshop presumes prior didactic training in clinical supervision and emphasizes experiential learning. Its intent is to enhance performance competency via engaging participants in application of the concepts covered at the introductory level. This one-day workshop is based on the premise that informed supervision emphasizes thoughtful intentionality and is designed to accommodate both a framework structure and responsive flexibility. Workshop participants will engage in reflective discussion and practice as they review the cornerstones of clinical supervision practice, articulate guiding principles for the supervisory relationship; consider how to engage in reflective supervision; examine issues of power, culture, and diversity in clinical supervision; and learn how to create a culture of coping resilience in supervision.

Biography:

Blythe Shepard, Ph.D., CCS is of British and Kanien'kehá:ka ancestry, a professor at the University of Lethbridge, and co-editor of the Clinical Supervision of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Profession.

Lori Rudniski is the director of a long-term counselling centre, instructor at the University of Manitoba and a CCS. She provides supervision for practicing counsellors and for university practicum students.
