Countertransference is more than noticing that your client reminds you of your father, partner, friend. Managing countertransference and difficult emotions that arise for the therapist in session is complex and requires a certain finesse. In this presentation, participants will learn ways to detect when they are mirroring clients or becoming distracted by their own internal experience. Lindsey will take the time to outline a series of techniques to help you pull yourself out of your parallel storyline, stay focused on the client during session, and process your own stuff thereafter. Participants will walk away with practical tips to manage countertransference on a physiological level and avoid potential burnout.
