Description

“Life with dementia can be lived fully.”

CCPA's Private Practitioners Chapter is founded on the ideology of embracing and providing support. The aim of this session is to create a dialogical space to learn Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care®, best practices in brain health through five senses, GEMS®, and Hand-under-Hand®, informing a brief, structured, psychological multicomponent practice, as caregiver referrals increase at unprecedented rates.

Caregivers are at risk of experiencing stress, depression, anxiety from overwhelming competing demands, personal health challenges, limited support/training for care-related responsibilities, and feeling socially isolated/disconnected superimposed with a global COVID pandemic.  This group-oriented course is based on the principles of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), which focus on understanding how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours work together to impact brain health and well-being.

Our session will be led by Teepa Snow, a renowned expert in senior care, who will be providing an interactive, hands-on approach. The outcomes will include increased awareness, knowledge, skill, and application of a positive approach to care to support caregivers and persons living with cognitive decline.  The session will provide a fun and engaging learning environment. Come build your neurocounseling toolkit!  Your clients will thank you! #MentalHealth
