Meet Your Presenter:

Dr. Heather M Boynton is an adjunct professor in Kinesiology at Lakehead University, and previously taught at Lakehead, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and Dalhousie University. She is internationally recognized for her work in spirituality for children and across the lifespan and as a long-standing board member and past Vice President of the Canadian Society for Spirituality and Social Work. Her scholarly interests focus on spirituality in trauma, grief and loss, child and family mental health, resiliency, wellbeing and posttraumatic growth. She has interests in service provision and evaluation of mental health programs that include attachment, emotion focused, narrative, and behavioural therapies and therapeutic holistic approaches, such as yoga, expressive arts, mindfulness, and self-compassion. trauma informed approaches, strength-based social work, cultural competence, and interprofessional education. She co-edited the book Trauma, spirituality and posttraumatic growth in clinical social work practice, which was nominated for the SSWR Book Award for Best Scholarly Book Published. She has been a co-editor for special editions focusing on spirituality in the Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Social Work and for the Religions Journal.
