Event Overview:

Participants will learn about the normal and natural stages and struggles that growing couples encounter. Participants will garner an understanding of the correlation between the Developmental Model of Couple Therapy and Margaret Mahler's Stages of Development. Participants will be introduced to assessment tools from an attachment theory perspective. They will learn how to apply these results to harness the developmental energy in each partner as well as learn how to support progression rather than regression in their work with couples.

About The Presenter:

Alexia Jimenez MA, RP and Leslie Walker MEd, MA, RP are local, practicing couple therapists who actively apply the Developmental Model of Couple Therapy in their clinical work. The model, created by Dr. Pete Peterson and Dr. Ellyn Bader of the Couple Institute in southern California USA, is being applied internationally with resounding success. Alexia and Leslie, both trained in the Developmental Model of Couple Therapy, will introduce concepts of the model and powerful interventions applicable for working with couples at various developmental stages in their relationship journey.
