Siobhan Nearey (MEd, RP, CCC) is a Registered Psychotherapist and a Clinical Associate of the Ottawa Mindfulness Clinic, where she has been teaching mindfulness courses since 2013. Siobhan is in private practice at Viewpoint Psychotherapy Services, where she runs workshops and works with individual clients. In addition to mindfulness, she is interested in self-compassion, workplace health, and helping people cope with difficult emotions.

Workshop summary:

This workshop will go beyond the basics of what mindfulness is, and discuss the risks and benefits of using mindfulness techniques in a psychotherapy setting.  We will address many of the myths about mindfulness, and explore the pros and cons of formal meditation and other mindfulness techniques.  We will also discuss the importance of mindfulness for the clinician, and how it contributes to our safe and effective use of self. The workshop will emphasize the importance of using gentle and compassionate approaches with ourselves and our clients.

- Cancellations made after this date will receive a credit for the full amount paid to be used only for future full-day workshops offered by the NCR Chapter during the 2018-2019 Speaker Series

- Any credits not used during the 2018-2019 Speaker Series will be forfeited 

- This cancellation policy is established to ensure that costs (snacks and beverages, etc) incurred for each registrant are covered for the respective year of Speaker Series
